Fun On Florida’s Treasure Coast
The Treasure Coast has a unique history. It is made up of Martin and St. Lucie counties, and the Indian River. It gets its name from the tons of treasures that were left at the bottom of the ocean when several ships sunk due to hurricanes, storms, or other mishaps. With such an interesting backstory, it should come as no surprise that the Treasure Coast has quite a few attractions and events for residents and tourists alike to enjoy.
If you love animals and the great outdoors, you might enjoy getting a beach tour on horseback in St. Lucie at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park, which is one of the few places that allows horseback rides in Florida. A camera is a must in this 3-mile ride along the beach.
Another great event to attend in the area is the St. Lucie Draft House Thursday Family Night, which is a weekly event where kids eat free, can get their face painted, and take home a balloon animal.
For Martin County residents (and visitors), the Fall Festival is a great way to welcome in October. To kick off the Fall season in Jensen Beach, there will be kids’ games and activities, an interactive animal education display, arts and crafts, food vendors, and more.
If you want to experience something unique to the Treasure Coast, you should go to the Pineapple Festival in mid-November at downtown Jensen Beach. In Jensen Beach, the pineapple is an important part of the town’s identity, which is why the festival has been around for 30 years. This annual event includes art, crafts, live music, stunt shows, street performers, the crowning of Miss Pineapple, and more.
If you find yourself in Stuart, the Sailfish Splash Waterpark is a great fixture in Martin County, where you can have a blast on the 1,000-foot lazy river or one of the four-story-tall water slides. It also has a water playground, and kids can even take swimming lessons or diving classes.
Another fantastic event to attend in Stuart is the Stuart Boat Show every January. As the largest boat show in Treasure Coast, it’s a must-see for boaters (and non-boaters). In 2018, it will be the 44th annual show, and as usual, will feature over 200 exhibitors with boats ranging from 12 to 80 feet in length. There, you’ll have a great time eating the delicious food and drinks, listening to live music, and even attending nautical-themed seminars.
Speaking of the Stuart Boat Show, while it is a fantastic way to spend your time, use precaution. Since South Florida is such a big location for boating enthusiasts, there’s a much higher chance for injury and boating accidents. Unfortunately, there are far too many boaters who are distracted or intoxicated while at the helm, not to mention maintenance problems and weather-related injuries. If that were to happen to you, be sure to contact Shiner Law Group to get compensation for your losses.
Why the Treasure Coast is the Place To Be
The Treasure Coast is brimming to the full with gorgeous sandy beaches, great activities, and a rich history. In addition to the above events and attractions, you’ll want to attend the annual Hobe Sound Festival of the Arts, as well as the annual Treasure Coast Pirate Festival in Fort Pierce. Or, if you prefer a more laid-back way to pass the time, there’s plenty of beaches and parks to choose from. It’s clear that all throughout Martin and St. Lucie counties, there is an endless supply of year-round activities to indulge in.
